Child Safety Standards
Last updated: 28 September 2026
Chess Meet is a place for chess. Asking a player under 18 to meet you, to continue on another app or somewhere private, or for photos or personal details is not allowed — and neither is any sexual contact or content involving a minor (CSAE). Accounts that do this are closed, and we follow the law, including informing the authorities when it requires.
Who the app is for
- Chess Meet is for people aged 13 and over.
- Meet & Play — players nearby, meeting in person, chess places and in-person tournaments — is for adults (18+) only. Every account gives its date of birth once, through a neutral form that does not say which age is needed, and it cannot be changed. Younger accounts cannot open Meet & Play, and our servers refuse its features to them even if the app is modified.
How the app keeps players safe
- No locations between players: others see only a distance band such as “2–5 km”.
- Public places only: meetups can only be set at listed public places, never a private address.
- No location sharing in chat: meetup chats refuse map links and coordinates, open only after a request is accepted, and close 24 hours after the meeting.
- Blocking stops all contact both ways at once.
- Text only: chats do not accept images.
- Safety advice is shown before anyone first uses Meet & Play.
How to report
In the app
- On any player’s profile: Report.
- On a meetup chat message: press and hold it, then Report.
- On a meetup, a tournament or a place: the Report option in its menu.
Every report is read by a person, and reports involving a minor are handled first.
By email
chessmeet.contact@gmail.com — give the username and what happened. A short description is enough; we will look into it.
Call your local police or emergency number first. You can also report to NCMEC’s CyberTipline (United States), the Internet Watch Foundation (UK), or the hotline of your country listed by INHOPE.
What we do
- Suspend the account at once while we review, and remove the content.
- Close for good any account that breaks these standards.
- Inform the National Center for Missing & Exploited Children (NCMEC) and the competent authorities when the law requires it, and keep what the law requires.
- Cooperate with law-enforcement requests made through proper legal process.
